September 15, 2024 This year marks the 126th anniversary of the Malolos Congress, a pivotal event in Philippine history that established Asia’s first republic—a beacon of democracy for the entire continent. Convened on September 15, 1898, the Malolos Congress laid the foundation for the Philippine Republic and underscored the nation’s dedication to democratic ideals. The theme for this year’s commemoration is “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.” Representing the BCCI at the event, held in front of Barasoain Church in the City of Malolos, were Dr. Jehan Echavez, VP for Advocacy, and Ms. Carmencita C. Uychoco, VP for Membership.
